The concept for IKEA Smidig originated as a strategy to address lengthy queues in IKEA stores. Insights indicated that if customers faced extensive lines at the checkout, they were less likely to make subsequent purchases from the in-store restaurant, a significant revenue source for the stores.
The solution: Utilize the IKEA app to scan items while shopping in-store, then finalize the purchase at a designated app checkout point.
The addition of an e-commerce solution was integrated into the IKEA offering at a later stage.
Responsibility
Design and UX Lead. Visual packaging of offer, along with full negotiation process of the project for IKEA.
